Memorable
Incidents:
The band trips,
football games, Junior Miss. I guess what I remember the
most was all the fun we had as a class. It was a small
class and I moved to Long Beach in the 5th grade so we all
grew up together. I lived next door to Mr. Thornhill (the
principal) so of course I was always appointed to ask for
anything the class wanted! I was of course caught smoking
in the bathroom. The thought of now makes sick. Thank God
I have able to quit that nasty habit. I was in the Girl
Scouts and remember all the fun we had then. We had the
best leader Mrs. Helen Bell, Ruth Ann Bell's mother. I
guess I have too many memories to list. I know that was
some of the BEST years of my life!!!!
Since High School:
I have been married 3
times. Thank God, the 3rd time was the charm. I have been
married to Kenneth for 21 years. He retired 11 years ago
and we have been blessed to be able to travel and camp a
lot. I have 2 sons that live in Ca. so we go out there at
least once a year. My son Wayne lives in TX. so we go out
there as often as we can. Three years age my son Michael
got married in Greece, so we were able to go to Europe for
3 weeks. I guess what brings us the most pleasure, is
spending time with our Grandchildren. I lost both of my
sisters to cancer, Mary Sue was only 44 and Michele was
only 54. I lost my father to a automobile accident 25
years ago, so I spend as much time as I can with my Mom.
She still lives in Long Beach.
Future Plans:
Spend as much time as
I can with our Grandkids. I try to live each day to the
fullest. If I didn't learn anything else from losing my
daddy and my sisters I learned we don't have a promise of
tomorrow so live for today. I hope to get back to Europe
again????
Memorable
Teachers:
Of course, Mr.
Thornhill next door neighbor. Mrs. Lloyd was always my
favorite teacher. When I moved down South in the 5th grade
she was my teacher and helped me make the transition to
becoming a southerner. Not a easy task, trust me. Then she
became our counselor in High School. I will always have a
soft spot for her in my heart.
Comments:
I would love to be
able to reach some of my classmates. I know the saying
goes, you can't go back, but it would sure be nice to hear
from or about my crazy class of 1961 alumni.
