Memorable Incidents: Freshman day, what a day!
Teaching Mrs. Guild to dance Rock and Roll style (Tommy
was busy with the girls). Football initiation, running
half-naked across Gulf Park campus covered in honey and
sand. Tommy Burt teaching us how to sail in a Gulfpark
Collage sail boat (at midnight). He read how to in a book
that day. The adventure of find every parking place
between Pass Christian and Biloxi. The Beta Club trip to
Jackson. Dances at the VFW in the Pass and at Westside
Community Center, Gulfport. Class party at the Holiday Inn
where Tommy Burt and Stanley Grantham became such good
friends. Being on WROA after football games. Charlie Lowe
and his typing skills, cut out his mistakes so he wouldn't
get a 0 for erasures. Butch Hammons and olive oil, huh
James Wedworth. Otis' Ford. The St. Thomas ramp.
Since High School: After one year at Perk (University of
Southwest Wiggins) did a 7 year tour in the U.S. Navy in
the Submarine Service. Joined workforce at Ingalls
Shipyard in 1969. BS from USM at Gulf Park, night classes.
Worked various management positions at Ingalls while
teaching in the Ingalls Apprentice program on the MGCCC
Jackson Co. campus. Retirement date, May 30, 2003. Have
served in various ministries at my church including, with
Shelby, a ministry to married couples.
Future Plans: Stay active in various ministries of
our church. Trade my motorcycle in for a larger one so
Shelby and I can tour the country. Otherwise, sleep late,
work little.
Memorable Teachers: Mrs. Guild because she
irritated Mr. Thornhill so much. Mr. Skinner - just an all
around great teacher. Mr. Hilton and his humor. Mr. Miller
and his demerit system. Mrs. Fletcher, my case worker. Mr.
Williams because he was Diane Toops' favorite math
teacher.
