Birthday: 09/30
Occupation: Airline Pilot
Spouse Name: Jennifer Lou "Lou"
Spouse Occupation: Professional volunteer!
Children: Ginger - 32 Craig – 28
Grandchildren: Corin - 10
Memorable Incidents: Band trips and
track meets - Most of them would have qualified as
"Incidents"!
Since High School: Graduated Miss.
State U. in 1967, spent next 23 years flying transports
and rescue/special ops helicopters in the Air Force, with
assignments in the U.S., Thailand, Okinawa and Germany.
Retired in 1990 as Lt Col, and started new career with
American Airlines. Flew the 727, DC-10, MD-80, MD-11, and
now fly Boeing 777 from Dallas to London, Paris,
Frankfurt, and Tokyo. Due to retire from American in 2005
if it lasts that long! Airline career has been pretty tame
to date, but was shot at over 5 countries and shot down in
1 during AF career (Laos, 1972). Survived 2 crashes, a
shootdown, and an aircraft burning up around me without a
stitch, broken bone, or hospital admission until August
2001, when I had 6-artery bypass surgery and had all of
the above.
Future Plans: Hang out at AA until
retirement/airline liquidation, then start another career,
TBD.
Memorable Teachers: Undoubtedly, #1 is "mercy"
Miller, but probably for all the wrong reasons. Royce
Ladner impressed me as an effective teacher to be so
young.
