Lorraine...eager to help...easy to find in a crowd...a
faithful Y-Teen...takes it with a smile...Lorraine
Name: Lorraine
Diane Heverling
Birthday: 10/03
Occupation: Happily Retired
Spouse Name: Happily Divorced we get along
better this way.
Children: No Children,
just my 4 year old Black Lab "Sam".. Two step-children from
previous marriage to Bit that I stay in touch with.
Lyric and Brent, excuse me he prefers James theses
days.
Grandchildren: Jesse, 11 (good ole country
boy); Cole 9 (city slicker);
Memorable Incidents: "2"
Mr. Miller.......skipping study hall (bless Mrs.
Fletcher she did try very hard). Bearkittens and the
endless hours of practice and fun. Home Ec. and some
of the stuff we used to sew and cook there, I'm
suprised we lived. Of course our beloved heros the
football and basketball players. Skipping Sr. Exams to go
to Belle's Ferry Swimming, names and details of that
are to be forever protected. Slumber parties at Linda
Helveston's. Bear kittens and ballgames of any kind.
Special lifelong friendships. The day Patti Bobinger
and I won the volleyball tournament when we played the
boys.
Since High School: Went to Draughon's Business College
in Baton Rouge with Mary Boland, and Kathy Sibley (I
could almost swear Janey was one of our roommates).
Then to work for General Electric at what is now
Stennis Space Center. Married in 1969 to Bit and
survived Camille. Moved to Illinois for a little while
then to Lucedale, Ms, in 1970 and still have a home
there. Moved back to the coast in 1977. No I hated
being a secretary so the Governor's office was out of
the question - I hate politics. Worked for the
Chancery Clerk and Police Department in Lucedale
before moving back to the Coast. Most of the time I
was the stay at home neighborhood Mom. We discovered
that I was going deaf so I was able to go college and
retrain at Perk in 1975 for 3 1/2 years and then to
Jeff Davis for other classes. Then went to work for
NASA in 1978, retiring on disability after a little
over twelve years (that was not in my life plans).
I've lived in the Old Diamondhead (Holiday Village)
for almost 7 year!
The loves of my life is my black lab and my
grandchildren. Mom's still in the house I grew up in,
we lost Dad several years ago.
Since High School: went to
business college in Baton Rouge, and married in 1969
and moved several times (I'm now happily divorced, we
get along better now). I retired from NASA in 1999 on
disability and now happily piddling with all the
wonderful things I wanted to do. I have lost my
hearing so life is kinda quiet for me these days - at
times a blessing and at times a curse.
Future Plans: Live life
to it's fullest and thank God everyday that I get out
of bed. I hopefully plan to take a cruise for my 60th
birthday with my favorite crazy cousin.
Memorable Teachers: Mrs.
Corder for the wonderful times in Home Ec. it has been
a great help to me in my life - I still love to cook
and sew and because of her take pride in what I do (gotta
give Mom some credit there too). Royce Ladner for
giving me a love of English and reading. Mr. Searcy
for hilarious times in Drivers Ed. and Study Hall.
Mrs. Fletcher held a special place in my life and
heart; her wonderful sense of humor, love of books and
a good time will always be remembered.
Comments: Thank you Eddie for all your hard
work. Looking forward to a happy 40th Reunion - let's
see if it can top the 25th (that is going to be a
tough job thanks to Janey and Clarence). God Bless and
hope to see you all soon. "Les Bon Temps Roulez"
