Memorable Incidents: 1. As a Junior, our girls Junior/Senior
Basketball games, when Karl Mertz coached the senior girls against us as
the Junior class. We girls as Juniors were beating the Seniors. I couldn't
seem to miss that night; and Karl told the senior girls to stop me. A girl
by the name of Kathy had hollered to him, "How". Karl told her anyway
possible. She tripped me and I went sliding across the floor. I saw it
coming, but I couldn't stop myself in time.
2. It stormed our second game, and my mother
wouldn't let me go. We lost that game, and remember a lot of the kids held
me responsible for our loss.
3. The year we took accounting, our teacher had
moved to Mississippi from the north because she was tired of living in
snow. Guess what, it snowed that winter, and she said she was gonna have
to move further south.
4. I remember our history teacher Mr. Miller, who
told the boys in our class if they would bring him some of their catch
when they went hunting, he would take care of them.
5. As seniors, Karl struck again and was partly
the reason I got elected as Art Director on the Yearbook Committee. So
just remember, if you had a problem with the Art in 1963's Yearbook, Karl
did it. I was Art Director in name only.
Since High School: This is my second marriage. My oldest son,
Jeremy, was by my first husband. Rex and I have been married, this June,
for 30 years. I have worked for the Federal Government the last 23 years.
He retired from the Air Force in 1991, and we have lived in Tampa, Florida
ever since. While he was in the Air Force, we lived in Aviano Italy,
Austin Texas, and Wrightstown New Jersey.
Future Plans: I am looking forward to retiring from the federal
government, and doing other things. I want to finish the book I am
writing, and maybe open my own Arts and Crafts Store. I also want a panel
truck and go thru neighbors selling freshly made Sno-Cones (I don't like
the frozen stuff they sell today).
Memorable Teachers: 1. Mr. Ladner and our English class, diagraming
sentences and conjugating verbs. 2. Ms. Crowell and my typing
class. Somebody typing on our manual typewriters who hit the return
carriage, and it went flying.
3. Mr. Miller our history teacher and his
pronunciation of certain words, and his telling the boys that he will take
care of them if they bring him something after they go hunting.
