The days of high school
pass so swiftly,
Who would guess they would become hallowed
As do the hallways of our footsteps
Within the many years that followed.
While dancing in our
fond memories,
Are the faces of our classmates too;
Some are people who held dear friendships,
While others we felt we scarcely knew.
Yet as memories still
echo of those days,
We look to everyone reverently,
As we recall their smiles and laughter
In a time our lives were so carefree.
We are saddened then,
to know that some
Didn't have time in the same measure,
Nor the same amount of life ahead
To know what we have had to treasure.
But as each precious
year goes onward
We savor the value of each one,
And look fondly back to those who touched
A part of us when all's said and done,
And realize that each
person there
Was just as much an important part,
And will always dwell in the memories
That remain in our childhood and heart.
Here's to you, our
dear fallen comrades,
We thank you for paths you've helped pave,
To form us all into whom we are
And for the smiles and good times you gave.
We want you to know
you linger here
As we recall your each name and face--
That in our fondest memories recalled,
You'll still always have your rightful place.
